We started in December, 2012 with a burning desire to help financially struggling pet owners in Phoenix feed and keep their four legged best friends.  People and their pets in Arizona are suffering.  The shelters and rescue groups are completely full because many owners are experiencing financial hardships and can no longer afford to feed them. Arizona is now the second poorest state in the nation.  According to the Arizona Republic, the unemployment rate is the highest in 30 years.  Middle Americans are losing their jobs and their homes in record numbers.  One in five people live in poverty, and 13.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty level.

Phoenix Pet Food Pantry distributes free pet food to low income people and anyone who has fallen on tough times. Our mission is to prevent abandoned and surrendered pets by supplying pet owners in need with food for their pets. To ensure that no pet goes hungry, the pantry provides free dog and cat food to anyone in financial crisis.  We teach the community about caring for pets, spay/neuter programs, and the humane treatment of all pets.   We provide information on and encourage pet owner participation in free and low cost spay and neuter programs and vaccinations.
